Search and filter this category ↗Methylsulfonylmethane, usually called MSM, is an organosulfur compound sold alone or in joint blends. Some small trials have examined pain and physical function in knee osteoarthritis. Describing it as a sulfur source explains its chemistry, but does not establish that a person needs a supplement or that it repairs damaged cartilage.
The cited trial involved only 49 participants and reported improvements of uncertain clinical importance. Short, small studies cannot establish sustained benefit or long-term safety. Research on MSM alone also does not validate every joint blend or show that the listed branded formula has been tested.
