Vitamin D helps the body absorb calcium and is needed for normal muscle and nerve function. Supplementation can correct inadequate intake or deficiency in an appropriate care plan. The reason for using it matters more than choosing the largest number on the front of a bottle.

The pack details above come from the manufacturer. Ingredient research below does not establish the effects of this exact product or independently verify its contents.

One small softgel, 1,000 IU

The current manufacturer panel gives 25 mcg vitamin D3 per one-softgel serving. The photographed orange 120-count bottle therefore contains 120 servings. The amount is one fifth of Nordic Naturals Vitamin D3 5000, so these strengths should not be interchanged capsule for capsule.

Olive oil does not make the whole formula vegetarian

The carrier is organic extra virgin olive oil, but the capsule contains gelatin. The full formula also lists glycerin, water, natural flavour, RRR-alpha tocopherol and rosemary extract. This record is animal-derived even though the oil carrier is plant based.

Add up total daily vitamin D

The manufacturer suggests one softgel daily with food. Include vitamin D already present in multivitamins or other supplements when comparing intake. NIH notes that excessive vitamin D can raise calcium and that thiazide diuretics can increase this risk; the label dose is not an individual deficiency-treatment plan.

02 / BENEFITS, IN PERSPECTIVE

Where might it be useful?

01

Calcium absorption

Adequate vitamin D helps the body use calcium to maintain bones.

02

Normal muscle function

Vitamin D is needed for muscle movement; correcting deficiency is different from boosting performance in someone already sufficient.

THE EVIDENCE LENS

What the research can — and cannot — tell us

Vitamin D has a well-established role in preventing deficiency disorders. Wider claims about weight loss, mood or routine disease prevention are not established for every user. D3 and D2 products, combination formulas and high-strength products should be compared using the actual vitamin amount.

03 / A CLOSER LOOK

What deserves your attention?

Count vitamin D from all supplements before combining products. Review use with thiazide diuretics or a history of high blood calcium. Contains gelatin.

Suitability comes before strength

Excessive supplemental vitamin D can cause serious harm, including high calcium and kidney problems. Review high-strength use and total combined intake with a qualified clinician.
