Compare the cost that reaches your door

Put pack size, declared nutrient and final charges on one consistent basis.

The cheapest tub, cheapest kilogram and cheapest amount of declared protein can be three different things. A useful comparison starts with a clear question and shows its working. The prices, products and exchange rate below are invented arithmetic examples, not live offers, valuations or recommendations.

Three things to remember

  1. Use the same unit and the same price basis on both sides.
  2. Keep original label inputs separate from your delivered-price assumptions.
  3. A lower calculated cost does not establish quality, suitability or availability.

Choose the question before the calculator

NIST’s unit-pricing guidance emphasises a consistent measurement unit within a product category. This lets you compare different pack sizes without letting the size of the container dominate. Our nutrient-cost calculation is an additional analytical comparison using label claims; it is not a replacement for ordinary pack-weight unit pricing or a statement of legal labelling compliance.

For similar powders, price per 100 g of powder describes the product’s net weight. Price per 25 g of declared protein describes a different quantity within that powder. Name the result accurately. If two formulations have different allergens, ingredients or intended uses, their numbers can still be calculated, but the result does not make them interchangeable.

Record five inputs, then calculate

Use the exact pack’s delivered price, net powder weight, labelled serving weight, declared protein per serving and your comparison quantity. Keep weights in grams. If the pack weight is in another unit, record the conversion rather than silently changing the source. Preserve qualifiers such as “approximately” where serving counts are rounded.

Declared protein fraction = protein per serving ÷ powder per serving. Declared protein in pack = net powder weight × protein fraction. Cost per comparison quantity = delivered pack price ÷ declared protein in pack × comparison quantity. The comparison quantity is an arithmetic unit, not a daily intake target.

Do not silently turn missing data into zero. A zero nutrient amount makes cost per nutrient undefined; a missing serving weight prevents this calculation. A genuinely free pack can have zero price, but an unknown price cannot. If a source provides only rounded servings per container, identify any result based on that rounded count as an estimate.

A larger pack can win one comparison and lose another

Fictional Pack A contains 900 g of powder, declares 24 g protein per 30 g serving, and costs ₹2,400 delivered. Its protein fraction is 0.80, giving 720 g declared protein per pack. Fictional Pack B contains 1,000 g, declares 28 g protein per 40 g serving, and costs ₹2,500 delivered. Its fraction is 0.70, giving 700 g declared protein.

Pack B costs less per kilogram of powder, but Pack A costs less per 25 g of declared protein. Neither result verifies the protein in a laboratory, assesses digestibility or tells someone which formulation fits their health needs. Keep the answer tied to the question that produced it.

Use a price you could actually obtain

Build the price from the exact eligible offer, then include unavoidable charges that are not already included: delivery, taxes, handling or other checkout charges. Avoid double counting a charge already inside the displayed total. Record whether a coupon is available to everyone, requires a minimum basket, or applies only to a first order.

Keep subscription pricing separate from a one-time purchase. If a discount requires a recurring commitment, the comparison should say so instead of using that headline price as though anyone can obtain it without conditions. A basket-wide delivery charge needs an explicit allocation rule; changing the rule can change which item looks cheapest.

For a reproducible note, retain the observation date, seller, pack, offer conditions and final-price basis. An old price snapshot is still useful for inspecting the arithmetic, but it is not a promise of today’s checkout total.

Keep the market visible when converting currencies

Begin with separate India and international comparisons. A US manufacturer price does not establish delivery to India, local stock, a valid import route or what an Indian buyer will ultimately pay. Convert only when an actual purchasing scenario is available, and leave unconfirmed charges visibly unresolved.

Fictional example only: US$60 product plus US$10 shipping equals US$70. At an invented rate of ₹90 per US$1, that becomes ₹6,300. Adding an independently specified ₹400 charge gives ₹6,700. This is not a current exchange rate or an estimate of import duty. If another charge remains unknown, ₹6,700 is a partial scenario, not a verified landed total.

A card provider or payment service may use a different conversion rate and fee basis from a quoted market rate. Record the rate source and date, and distinguish an estimate from the final charged amount. Keep the original USD record beside the INR scenario so someone can reproduce the calculation.

Read the evidence before treating the result as value

Use the calculation to narrow a question, then inspect the label source, allergens, evidence gaps, seller and relevant testing information. A low cost per declared gram measures one dimension. The amount is still a label claim, not a guarantee of benefit. Our free protein calculator and dated research samples make their inputs visible so you can check the working rather than accept a hidden score.

Common questions

Should I always choose the lowest cost per declared gram?

No. The figure excludes personal suitability, quality verification, allergens and many other purchase considerations.

Can I compare different currencies without an exchange-rate assumption?

You can display their original prices separately. A numerical cross-currency comparison needs an explicit rate, date and charge basis.

WHEN YOU’RE READY TO COMPARE

Take the knowledge with you.

Compare the same form, active amount and intended use before comparing price. India and International listings have separate filters; some categories may have no listings in one market. Listings do not establish local stock or a need for a supplement. Shopping disclosures appear on product pages.
